About the Organization: Peace of Mind Afghanistan (PoMA) is an organization that provides psychological and mental health support to communities and populations throughout Afghanistan. PoMA is made up of an interdisciplinary team of psychologists, social workers, and researchers who sustainably develop mental health systems, support, programs, and technical assistance. Recognizing the importance of global mental health, PoMA strives to address mental health challenges that have a profound impact on individuals and communities worldwide. PoMA is expanding its programming and is now looking for dedicated team members to join our organization.
About the Role: We are seeking community providers with a background in mental health, psychology, or social sciences to provide mental health support to communities. The MH/MHPSS practitioner will be responsible for providing evidence-informed psychological support for Afghan populations in Herat, Daikundi, Khost, and Nangarhar.
Responsibilities:
- Provide evidence-informed MH/MHPSS for communities in Afghanistan under the supervision of a senior clinical psychologist.
- Implement psychological assessments and connect populations to additional services based on severity and need.
- Work with community focal points to raise awareness and provide psychoeducation about mental health.
- Ensure safeguarding protocols are followed in all interactions and interventions.
- Engage in continued clinical development and clinical training.
- Integrate mental health care into community services and access points.
- Attend PoMA workshops and required engagements.
Appliable Criteria & Qualifications:
- Background in Psychology, Psychiatry, Social Work, or alternative training or education in mental health or social sciences.
- Training in and experience implementing mental health, evidence-informed practices, and applicable psychological approaches in Afghanistan, with familiarity in PM+ preferred.
- Experience in providing individual and/or group mental health support.
- Clinical supervision experience and knowledge of the EQUIP platform preferred.
- Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto preferred.
