Full time, 37 hours a week.£22,082 progressing to £24,536Salary as of 1 April 2024 – £23,775 progressing to £25,027Oakdene delivers person-centred support, to empower clients and support them on their recovery journey.We have a dedicated and passionate team, who deliver intensive support to clients living in the service. This role requires a proactive, and flexible approach. If you’re passionate about supporting individuals, with complex support needs and a range of mental health needs, then this is the role for you.If you have an open mind and the drive to succeed, you will thrive at Oakdene, all you need to do is apply!You will be working as part of a large team to provide support to our clients who have mental health, substance misuse and physical health support needs.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will have your own caseload of clients to manage and will work with them on a one to one basis. You will identify their needs by listening to them and put together a support plan which is equally achievable and realistic for them
  • You will encourage their involvement in personal progression in the form of education, training, employment activity or volunteering
  • You will help them develop their practical skills in areas such as health, budgeting, shopping, cooking, housework, laundry and hygiene
  • You will work with external partners to maximise the opportunities available to clients so that they can resettle in the community
  • You will involve clients in the smooth running of the service
  • You will be extremely conscientious in areas such as safeguarding and lone working.
  • You will help clients to access the benefits they are entitled to claim
  • You will help to maintain a welcoming, safe environment, identifying and minimising all potential risks to clients, colleagues and visitors to the service
  • You will provide basic first aid assistance until help arrives (full training provided)
  • You will maintain client records using relevant systems to an excellent standard
  • You will work in accordance with the Health and Safety regulations and all policies and procedures
  • You will attend supervision, appraisal, training and meetings as directed which may be outside your normal working pattern
  • You will work flexibly across all areas of operation where required and prior notice given
  • Any other reasonable task as requested by a member of staff

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/TRAININGPrevious experience in this type of work is not essential but you will have a real passion for wanting to work with homeless people. Your values will match ours, you will be committed to helping others and enjoy the real job satisfaction that this brings.

  • Clear verbal and written English
  • Good IT and keyboard skills
  • Polite, assertive manner, ability to self -motivate
  • Passion for working in a client/customer facing role
  • Willing to assist clients to access the community
  • Knowledge of the benefits system and tenancy legislation
  • Interest and genuine concern for mental health, housing and related issues
  • Knowledge of voluntary and statutory agencies

Our services include outreach to rough sleepers, supported accommodation (direct access hostels, move-on accommodation, and resettlement flats), day centres, community support, housing first and landlord support services.
