Mentor Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Mentor to provide guidance and support to our trainees. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a framework for employees to develop their skills and reach their goals. They will also guide career paths and help employees to develop meaningful relationships with their peers.

Mentor Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support will be provided to 175 beneficiaries to develop effective and efficient Business Implementation Plans (BIP) – This job will be divided among 4 mentors
  • Meet with trainees regularly to discuss their career goals, development plans, and any challenges they are facing
  • Develop training and development plans tailored to the individual needs of each employee
  • Facilitate workshops, seminars, and events to help employees expand their knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Provide guidance and advice on career paths and growth opportunities
  • Monitor employee progress and provide feedback
  • Create a supportive and nurturing environment for employees to learn and grow
  • Encourage employees to reach their full potential and develop their skills
  • Weekly update of project documents and provision of monthly narrative and progress reports.
  • Refer mentees to other sources of information, advice, or further support when appropriate and encourage mentees to take responsibility for their own decisions, plans, and actions.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Mentor Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business, Psychology, Education, or Human Resources
  • 5+ years of experience in a mentoring role
  • Strong knowledge of mentoring techniques, principles, and practices
  • Understanding of local financial institutions’ requirements and existing access to finance mechanisms for micro businesses
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to motivate and inspire others
  • Able to build trust and establish meaningful relationships
  • Proven track record of success in developing and mentoring trainees
