Context
Under the overall supervision of the MHPSS Programme Manager and the direct supervision of the MHPSS Family and Community Support Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the MHPSS programme activities by performing the following functions and responsibilities:
Responsibilities
- In co-ordination with the Education Officer, provide admin and clerical assistance to plan, implement and evaluate the counselling and psychosocial activities in the school(s) in Camp As Sayliyah (CAS).
- Support qualified technicians when providing trainings and activities to build the capacity of teachers in the area of counselling and PSS including in times of emergency.
- Assist in Documenting and reporting all education, counselling and psychosocial support activities conducted at the school using Smart Camp SYNC (Data Entry System) in coordination with the Education Unit.
- Assist in the organization of awareness raising sessions, group and individual interventions, and psychoeducation sessions to create a positive learning environment, enhance the students’ wellbeing and achievement and develop positive students’ behavior.
- Assist in with the coordination between different CAS programs, such as Protection, Health, Non-Food Items, Community Engagement.
- Assist in the organization of educational programs and training sessions for adolescents and teenagers.
- Support the organization of MHPSS trainings for teachers and volunteers.
- Assist qualified technicians to identify and refer children in need of specialized services to a child psychiatrist.
- Assist to organize capacity building activities for IOM staff, CAS focal points, Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) and community volunteers on child-oriented psychosocial support and related issues through workshops and trainings.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- University or Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology focusing on Education Development/Psychology, or Education, Adult Education, or any other relevant field with three years of relevant professional experience.
- High school degree with at least five years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Proven work experience as a teacher.
- Experience working with at-risk community members.
- Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities and stakeholders, working in international organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization.
Skills
- Must be approachable and empathic so children will be comfortable working with you.
- Excellent knowledge and skills in MHPSS programming resilience, psychosocial support, community-based activities, development and mobilization, especially in an emergency context.
- Demonstrated ability to draft and prepare clear and concise formal correspondence and project reports.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural setting;
- Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles.
- Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills;
- Proficient in a Microsoft Office environment and office software packages; Data entry (database management) skills.x
Languages
- For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Knowledge of Dari/Farsi/Pashto and Arabic is an advantage.
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
