Who are we?

Mindfully Wired is a unique and vibrant change communications agency – and by that, we
mean we’re completely purpose-led and dedicated to addressing and redressing environmental
issues and causes through our deep knowledge and different thinking. Within the environmental
sector, we specialise in ocean-themed topics, working across issues such as marine governance
and species protection, seafood marketing, the blue economy, and coastal communities. And as a
group, we’re hugely passionate about the causes we serve and work non-stop with our minds alive
with ideas and our hearts on our sleeves.

What do we need?

We need an experienced and ambitious midweight designer, who’s looking to step up from
a team role and lead the design work across both sides of our business. You’ll sit in the
Creative Services team – we’re a close-knit bunch working very much shoulder to shoulder across
an ever-changing and diverse portfolio but with purpose and change at the heart of every task.
You’ll play your part in delivering on a range of varied and exciting briefs, helping on all
concepts and campaigns, but most importantly bringing it all to life through wonderful and
thoughtful design.

What skills will you need?

  • A degree-level qualification and exquisite design skills (goes without saying!),
with must-have experience across a wide range of Adobe platforms, including Illustrator,
Photoshop, InDesign, XD, After Effects, Premier Pro and more, in order to design outputs of
    various scales and formats
  • A sideways conceptual mind and critical thinking skills – you should have the
ability to interrogate a brief and come up with original creative ideas that don’t rely on
pretty design alone, and then be able to bring that vision to life
  • An excellent understanding of the Adobe Creative Cloud and Cloud Libraries filing
    processes
  • UX design skills are key: you should have the ability to design intuitive websites
and digital interfaces in Adobe XD, create websites in Squarespace and oversee and support
the development of custom website builds in CMS systems such as WordPress
  • Experience with video editing tools – particularly Premiere Pro – as well as the
ability to make reels for Instagram
  • A good understanding of current social media platforms, their purpose and
performance – and you’ll be the kind of person who likes to keep on top of design trends
and movement in the digital comms industry
  • The ability to review and articulate feedback wherever it’s needed
  • The flexibility to work collaboratively in Canva with other members of the
    team
  • Understanding of photo licensing terms and rules, as well as a thorough
    understanding of outputting for print
  • A keen visual eye and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace

What strengths will you need?

  • A visual thinker and all-round imagineer, always leading with a creative
    mindset
  • A warm, kind and positive human being, with a genuine interest in the environment
and sustainability issues, and a true love for our planet, as well as ideally some
knowledge of fisheries, seafood or marine conservation issues
  • Top-notch organisational skills and effective time management to juggle a wide
range of creative, design and development briefs, including anything from social media
templates to infographics to rebrands, or full websites to reports and campaign props – as
well as staying on top of asset management across Canva and the Adobe Suite
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills – you’ll be a professional, engaging
and clear speaker when presenting or pitching work and ideas to both colleagues and
clients, leading ‘discovery calls’ on new work or liaising with sub-contractors
  • A head for numbers, to provide clear design time estimates and support when
    quoting
  • Copywriting skills to create insightful creative briefs alongside our Creative
    Head
  • Proactive cross-team awareness – this includes spotting opportunities for
cross-team work, identifying any potential ‘conflicts of interest’ in terms of design, and
ensuring a clear point of difference among branding and design outputs
  • The ability to help the wider team continuously develop a basic design skill set,
with the support of the Head of Creative Services. This could include the creative skills
development of a junior designer, as well as the instructing of other team members

In short…

We’re a fun-having, cause-caring, knowledge-loving, bold-thinking team of experts and creatives
who take our work a lot more seriously than we take ourselves. So if you can do all the above
and think you could fit in and thrive with us too, then we’d love to hear from you, with CV,
portfolio and a colourful and characterful one page cover letter. We’re excited to meet
you!
