Minister

Located in Upper Beeding, West Sussex, The Hub/ Upper Beeding Baptist Church is a lively, loving, Christian fellowship. The church enjoys a high profile presence within the village and wider community. Helped by our very busy café. a regular programme of activities which cater for a broad spectrum of ages, made possible through the work of committed volunteers from the fellowship.

Our modern building provides rooms available for local community groups and continues a very popular foodbank. Most activities are church-based activities, but our building is also used by secular groups from our village and the local community.

We are now seeking a Minister who will work in partnership with our Team of Trustees and our church family to develop and pastorally lead a fresh vision for our future life and work within the community within Upper Beeding, which stretches across to Bramber and Steyning.
 

We are looking for a minister who…

• Is an engaging team leader with a God-centred vision and a passion for leading the church forward in loving, caring for and growing its own community.
• Walks closely with God, is guided by prayer
• Delivers Bible teaching, preaching and worship-leading that is accessible and engaging to a wide range of ages and Christian experience and can draw people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Has a passion for our work with young families, youth and children to draw them in and grow our church community.
• Will lead us in developing our visibility and relationships with our local community around our area and across the local community
• Overseeing the running of our popular church café
• Having the courage to try new things…..

Salary

Between £29,575.00 and £32,532.00 pa

This will be paid monthly in arrears, and increased annually in line with Baptist Union guidance (the figures quoted are for 2025).
In addition to a competitive salary, we will provide a manse or housing allowance depending on the appointee’s circumstances and preference.

Housing
A manse is provided. The Hub will bear the costs of council tax, buildings insurance (contents insurance is the responsibility of the minister), water and sewerage charges, broadband connection and telephone line (although the minister should bear the costs of personal calls).
We are willing to discuss alternative housing arrangements with candidates who do not wish to make use of the manse.

Pension
The role includes membership of the ministers’ section of the Baptist Pension Scheme with a 10% employer’s contribution. The Hub’s contribution is calculated as the stipend plus the manse pension value. For 2025 this equates to a total employer’s contribution of (£2,958 + £774) = £3,732 minimum.
