Competencies
Education Master”s degree in economics, business, international development, international relations or related area is required.
Job – Specific Qualification Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
Work Experience Minimum seven years of relevant work experience is required. Two years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable. Experience in international trade development and trade related development assistance (TRTA) is desirable. Experience of strategic planning and governance, particularly in a government, international institution or private company is desirable. Experience in research and writing on “trade related topics” in Africa is desirable. Experience in working with projects related to regional integration or SMEs in Africa is desirable.
Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English is required. Either French or Spanish is desirable. Assessment Assessment will be undertaken through a comparative analysis of the applications. The assessment may also include a competency-based interview and/or other appropriate evaluation mechanisms.
Special Notice To broaden access to international institutional exposure and support the development of future African leaders, priority may be given to qualified African professionals who have not previously had experience with the International Trade Centre. Applicants will be contacted only if they are under serious consideration. The funding of this fellowship is provided by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation (MIF) and is for a period of one year only. Please note that this fellowship position is not a staff appointment. Therefore, the provisions of the United Nations Staff Regulations and Rules referenced in the ”United Nations Considerations” section below as well as the Position level indicated in this posting title do not apply to this position. Any entitlements are exclusively set out in this Fellowship Agreement, and with no participation in the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund. The selected Fellow will receive a Letter of Award before commencement of service. ITC shall in no case be responsible for the family and dependents of fellows. ITC does not provide support for the families of fellows to obtain work/residential permits. The monthly stipend rates are sufficient only to cover the normal living expenses of one person, and no allowances of any kind will be paid for dependents.
