An internal opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and experienced casual Assertive Outreach Worker to work in our Better Health Network Mobile Health Outreach Service (MHOS). This is an innovative program providing evening outreach support and needle syringe program services to people who use drugs.
Join a dynamic, skilled multidisciplinary team located in South Melbourne and working in the southern Bayside region of Melbourne. To be eligible for the role, you will have an open attitude, excellent communication skills and a willingness to work with a diverse range of people in the community.
The role will suit people who are looking for occasional casual evening work such as students in the alcohol and drug or health field and part-time workers. A current Victorian drivers licence is essential.
Ideally, you will possess:
- A professional qualification in Certificate IV in Alcohol and other Drugs or similar experience is preferred.
- Experience in lived or living experience or experience working in a harm reduction service.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with people who use drugs including people experiencing homelessness, mental health conditions, people who engage in sex work and people from diverse cultural background.
- Excellent knowledge of the health and social sector including community services and AOD services.
- A clear understanding of stigma as a barrier to positive health outcomes for people who use drugs.
