JOB DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the position is to support the implementation of all NRC Programs in the North-West and South West Regions. The MEL Assistant will provide support in the collection and management of information for all the different areas of expertise. He/she will work under the supervision of the Field Office Coordinator, who will provide him/her full support in the implementation of all relevant activities.
A – Generic Responsibilities
- Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
- Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action
- Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
- Ensure proper filing of documents
- Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function
- Managing the Global Outputs Reporting System (GORS)
- Introducing and managing a complaints handling mechanism
- Carry out regular project monitoring, spot checks and reports
B – Specific Responsibilities
- Assists program staff develop baseline and end line data for each project site in the Program.
- Participate in the design and improvement of monitoring and evaluation tools used to capture the impact of programme activities.
- Carry out monthly data quality assessments (DQA), particularly on Project Trackers, and ensure monthly reporting on GORS.
- Identify and document the risks arising from our implementation approach and the behaviour of the various internal and external players during post-intervention monitoring.
- Identify areas for improvement in the implementation and design of interventions and share this information with the programme teams and the management team.
- Ensure that post-intervention monitoring and reporting is well analysed, rigorous and consistent for all programmes and that all data and reports from interventions are integrated into the internal reporting database. This will involve working closely with the Data Base Officer.
- Participate in the identification, documentation and sharing of lessons learned and success stories illustrating the improvements made to the situation of beneficiaries by NRC and provide the necessary figures and analyses for the writing of reports (internal or external) and new projects.
- Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of the complaints and feedback mechanism in collaboration with the CFM Assistant. Development of case studies to capture qualitative outputs of the project.
- Monitor the archiving of programme documents in accordance with NRC policy.
- Support in the roll out of new technology, methods and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities.
1 – Generic professional competencies:
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in monitoring and evaluation, social science, development studies or similar fields.
- Professional experience in monitoring and evaluation in a humanitarian context.
- Experience in data collection, analysis, calculation, management and reporting.
- Previous work experience in complex and unstable environments.
- Proven track record in job responsibilities.
2 – Context/ Specific skills, knowledge, and experience
- In-depth knowledge of the social, cultural, economic and legal context of the North West and South West Regions.
- Knowledge of the Education, Food Security and Livelihoods, Civil Documentation, Housing, Land and Property, Shelter, WASH and Protection programmes would be an advantage.
- Thorough knowledge of GIS, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Good knowledge of Kobotools.
- Knowledge of evaluation and monitoring principles and approaches in humanitarian and development programmes.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Knowledge of French is an asset.

• Duration of the contract: 12 months, renewable depending on the availability of funds
• Salary / Benefits: In accordance with NRC’s Salary Grid and a 90% health insurance coverage.
• Duty station: Bamenda
• Travel: 60%
