MS Assistantship – Forest Resources Outreach Campaign

The Rubino Lab (www.rubinoresearch.com) at the University of Arkansas at Monticello is searching for outstanding candidates for a funded M.S. position beginning August 2024.

This project will focus on developing/implementing an outreach campaign related to the use of forest resources in rural, historically underserved communities (specifically related to climate disaster preparedness).

Candidates should be passionate about outreach/education, sustainability, and the opportunity to make an on-the-ground difference for rural Delta communities and southeastern forests/habitat.

In addition to interdisciplinary classwork towards their degree, the student will be responsible for the development of campaign materials, implementation of the campaign, collection of qualitative data (via interviews), and overall project management.

This project is funded by the US Forest Service and will have direct implications in terms of improving climate resilience/disaster preparedness in historically underserved rural communities across the Mississippi Delta and improving forest ecosystem health/wildlife habitat in the southeastern US. Applicants should be interested in qualitative research and developing/implementing outreach campaigns.

Compensation: $18,000/yr + tuition covered
