Function Prerequisite:
The Multi Task Team Leader is part of a team conducting non-technical survey of suspected and/or confirmed hazardous areas. The Team Leader is in charge of the team and responsible for the team management, deployment of team members in the field, reporting, team equipment and safety.
The Team Leader is also responsible to lead the team as described above in order to conduct Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) tasks to deliver effective, quality risk education to those at risk within communities as identified by NPA in coordination with RMACS. The Team Leader may also lead the team in conducting CMRS and CMRC tasks as appropriate.
General Responsibilities:

- Adhere to all NPA policies, regulations and procedures
- Maintain and care for all equipment issued by NPA and accept any liability for any negligent loss damage and repair
- Follow all verbal and/or written instructions, unless in direct violation of safety and duty of care
- Ensure a safe workplace and protect all staff and equipment from damage/ injury
Responsibilities:
The Team leader is responsible for the collection of factual data, creating reports for the OSM and providing recording them through the Information Management (IM) systems and IM Officers, which means:
- Sound knowledge of relevant NPA SOP Chapters and general knowledge of other chapters.
- Lead the team on meetings with authorities or communities.
- Ensure quality re-survey, cancellation, new survey, spot task, PCIA, EORE tasks and reporting.
- Manage the team’s work and ensure productivity meets donor’s outputs.
- Conduct any conflict resolution between the team and community/local authorities.
- Have in depth knowledge of map reading, use of handheld GPS and IMSMA forms.
- Perform surveyor duties if required in the absence of surveyors in the team.
- Analyze existing desktop data prior to conducting NTS/EORE/CMRS/CMRC tasks.
- Advise OSM on tasking and planning/prioritization of NTS/EORE/CMRS/CMRC team work.
- Select Reference Points and positioning Benchmarks for recording hazardous areas.
- Take compass bearings and measure distances on the ground.
- Apply permanent hazard marking of areas and identified ERW as required.
- Competent use of radio communication equipment and GPS.
- Complete and/or conduct quality checks of all NTS/EORE/CMRS/CMRC reporting.
- Any other duties as directed by the OSM, TFM or STFM.
Required Qualifications:
Must have
- Computer literacy
- Demining/BAC/Survey/NTS/EORE Course
- 3 years’ combined experience in NTS or BAC work
- Arabic written and verbal literacy
- Driver’s (manual) license
- Iraq EOD Level 2
Desirable
- Experience as NTS Team Leader
Experience:
Must have
- Previous experience in a leadership role
- Related experience or proven background suitable for Team Leader work
Desirable
- Experience working with Mine Action
- 2 years work as NTS/EORE /BAC
- EOD Level 3
- Other Qualifications:
- Verbal and written proficiency in Arabic
- Very good interpersonal skills
- Ability to check/correct reports to a high standard
- Good communication and understanding skills
- Able to work effectively under stressful situations and adapt to difficult conditions
- Willingness and ability to travel within the country and stay in temporary accommodatio
