Description of primary duties and responsibilities: Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

The mission of the Charles Waddell Chesnutt Library is to support diverse learning environments, library collections and a variety of services that enables the university community to meet the strategic goals and needs set forth by Fayetteville State university. The library is also committed to promoting the use of information resources by collaborating with faculty in developing information literate students who become life-long learners. In addition, the Chesnutt Library assumes its special role as a major cultural resource for the Fayetteville State University and the Southeastern region of North Carolina.
Primary Purpose of the Position:

This position is needed to inform and advise the students, other members of the university community or any other library user, on technology (especially library technology) topics. Instruction and Troubleshooting are services that this position delivers. In addition, the position will provide instruction to individuals / groups / faculty and staff on the use of library technology (i.e. laptops, computers, 3D printing, Podcasting, Virtual Reality and other technology maker space services provided by the library). This position will provide primary technical support, training and workshops for all Virtual and Augmented Reality Spaces within the Chesnutt Library. As part of Library IT, this position will also provide technical support for all labs and spaces within the library including the Board of Trustees room and meetings within that space.
Description of Work Continued: 35% – Oversees all activities including the planning, development and production of content for the Library’s virtual and augmented reality spaces (VR). Schedules class usage of space and collaborate with faculty for class instruction, use, and related assignments. Maintains and manages VR related equipment and spaces. Deploys and removes apps content and software for VR related equipment. Provides technical support including case management with vendor (s) for VR related equipment. Develops, and maintains public facing tutorials and information on Library website/ libguides in regards to library VR equipment and spaces.

15% –
Instructs, trains, and assists patrons, faculty and staff in the use of the library’s Library VR applications, spaces and equipment. This also includes providing user support with technology in library creative spaces, labs, rooms and public spaces. creative (i.e. 3d printing, scanning, virtual reality, podcasting, smart boards, audio/video format conversion and other maker space related technology) Provides technical support for the Board of Trustees Room and other collaborative spaces.

15% –
Assists Library IT with troubleshooting and preventative maintenance: Troubleshoots problems which may subsequently be resolved as hardware, application, network application, network or user issues or some combination of issues. Performing preventative and proactive maintenance on all library IT items. Including, but not limited to, desktops, laptops, scanners, monitors, desktop printers and label writers. Performing perpetual and periodic inventory procedures on the same. Evaluates technology and makes recommendations to the IT Librarian, and Library Director.
10% – Participates in library public services as needed or requested.
10% – Collaborates with the Head of Public Services to provide programming, instruction and workshops to the Library, Faculty, staff, students and the FSU Community.
5% – Develops reports and assessment data for VR lab and other Library IT spaces..
5% – Manages, directs and supervises work-study students for library creative technology spaces and virtual reality spaces and labs.
5% – Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in audiovisual equipment operation and maintenance, graphic design, and/or photography; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
