The International Energy Agency (IEA) is an intergovernmental organisation committed to advancing security of energy supply, economic growth and environmental sustainability through energy policy co-operation. The IEA operates as an autonomous body within the framework of the OECD. The IEA Communications and Digital Office (CDO) develops and implements the Agency’s communication strategy across its digital platforms. It is responsible for the production and dissemination of IEA data and analysis, oversees the Agency’s digitalisation strategy, public relations and social media.

 

The IEA is looking for a Multimedia Communications Editor to support the delivery of the IEA’s communications strategy, monitoring the implementation of the communications plan, and safeguarding the reputation of the IEA. You will oversee the research, development, design, maintenance and implementation of policies and programs that enhance the Agency’s relations with governments and intergovernmental organisations, the business and financial community, non-governmental organizations, and the public. Specifically, you will be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of the IEA’s video and multimedia strategy, including livestreams of report launches, events, etc.; manage and guide the IEA’s branding and design strategy; supervise the IEA’s analytics, impact and monitoring strategy; and oversee the IEA’s social media strategy.

 

Job Description

As part of the IEA’s dynamic Communications and Digital Office in our Paris headquarters, the role reports to the Head of Communications. You’ll work closely and collaboratively across the office – supporting production, promotions and media relations functions – and support team-wide initiatives.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Manage strategic planning and analysis of the IEA’s multimedia policies and projects, including videos, podcasts, and other forms of web content.
  • Manage the IEA’s livestream strategy with regard to report launches and on-site and off-site events, including livestreams from partners and third parties.
  • Guide the development of the IEA’s visual identity, including branding and design, across digital platforms as well as at events and meetings.
  • Develop and oversee IEA’s digital analytics strategy to guide the evaluation and monitoring of communications content and campaign performance across all digital channels.
  • Support the preparation of regular impact reports highlighting success and areas for improvement.
  • Oversee the IEA’s social media and community-building efforts, benchmarking against prior performance and peer organizations, and analysing the impact of organic and paid promotions and campaigns.
  • Ensure continued monitoring and evaluation of the IEA’s reputation, alerting relevant stakeholders on potential reputational risks or misinformation.
  • Support the promotion of content and amplify messages in a targeted, sustained way across online platforms; help to define campaign objectives, key messages, target audiences, channels, tools and KPIs.
  • Stay abreast of social media, multimedia, and analytics best practices, conducting research and benchmarking to inspire others to innovate, and coaching teams to adopt an evidence-based culture.

Ideal candidate profile

 

Professional Background

  • A minimum of five years’ experience developing, implementing, and analysing multimedia communications strategies – especially video, analytics and social media — within communications agencies, consulting companies, international organizations, or governments.
  • At the forefront of emerging digital trends, new content and platform opportunities, with an openness to constantly improving digital knowledge and skills.
  • Solid analytical skills, with an ability to think strategically and synthesize information into concise recommendations.
  • Experience in crafting, presenting, and disseminating complex ideas, recommendations, from a variety of data sources turning them into actionable insights, compelling narratives to leadership and senior decision-makers.
  • Experience in an international environment and ability to work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain strong attention to detail while meeting tight deadlines.

 

Tools

  • Proficiency in video editing and post-production tools (Adobe Premiere, Lightroom, etc.)
  • Proficiency in livestream platforms and protocols (YouTube, Restream, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Proficiency in social media monitoring tools (e.g., Quintly, Talkwalker, Brandwatch, Linkfluence, etc.)
  • Proficiency in web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Looker Studio, Overton, Audiense, etc.)
  • Proficiency in the latest media monitoring tools (e.g., Factiva, Cision, Kantar, Lexis Nexis, Meltwater, etc.)
  • Excellent knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere Pro)
  • Knowledge of SEO/web optimization and social media publishing tools.
  • Basic understanding of web design including HTML and CSS would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of video production and editing tools would be an advantage.

Selection Process

For retained candidates, written tests/video-recorded interviews are foreseen end July/early August, and panel interviews are planned for End August/Early September.

 

Languages

  • An excellent written and oral command of English.

Contract Duration

  • Two years fixed term appointment, with the possibility of renewal.
