Job Summary

The MyReports Manager serves the entire university with the goal of facilitating and improving data delivery and data- driven decision-making by all levels of leadership. The purpose of the position is to analyze, design, maintain, deliver, and support the campus-wide financial reporting solution – MyReports.

The nature of the financial and administrative systems and initiatives will be varied, and the position requires extensive systems experience, a thorough understanding of the interdependencies between systems and processes, knowledge of campus financial and administrative needs, and strong leadership, communication, and project management skills to identify and resolve substantial issues, develop deliverables and timelines, manage stakeholder expectations, and handle post-deployment adjustments. The incumbent is expected to execute work independently.

Department Description

The UCSF Controller’s Office delivers accounting services and related systems for faculty, staff, and students, all University Departments and foreign operations, the Health System, UCSF Foundation, and outside entities who have a business relationship with the University.  Services provided include General Ledger, Capital and Cash Accounting, Payroll, Student Loan Billing and Collections, and Contracts and Grants Accounting. The Controller’s Office’s vision is to be a trusted advisor working in partnership with faculty, staff, and students to enhance the financial stewardship of the campus and to uphold the public’s trust in the institution and mission of UCSF. The office uses sophisticated technology to account for and report on $5 billion in financial activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area and / or equivalent experexperience/training years of relevant prog,ressive experience
  • Must have knowledge relating to the design of applications programs across the campus.
  • Understanding and skill in highly complex processes and systems requirements documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description.
  • Deep knowledge of campus and system-wide policies, practices, procedures, and contacts. Understanding of how financial, HR, student, and other data is used within the campus, the UC system, State of California, Federal agencies, other higher education institutions, and in the private sector.
  • Demonstrated testing and test planning skills. Requires advanced skills associated with financial data values and structures
  • Expert skills and methodologies associated with the analysis of processes and issues, information flow, and architecture. Requires strong knowledge of definitions and uses of financial data, reporting systems, information flow, and data architecture
  • Demonstrated skills needed to develop process and system implementation plans. Has skills needed to develop conversion and system implementation plans.
  • Expert knowledge of business processes and procedures. Requires competency in query functions and language, and basic data modeling
  • Demonstrated experience with process analysis, systems analysis, process architectures and systems analysis methodologies and practices including traditional waterfall, Agile, Agile Scrum, UML, UML Enterprise, et cetera. Knowledge of applicable industry standards and best practices for business analysis at all stages of implementation cycle
  • Advanced knowledge of large-scale, complex business and process analysis functions.
  • Knowledge relating to the design and development of diverse and complex processes and software across the organization.
  • Thorough knowledge of other areas of IT, including business process methodologies and analysis techniques. Requires knowledge of other related areas of IT.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with executive-level management on a regular basis.
  • Understanding of enterprise business needs and how highly complex business systems can support those needs. Knowledge of department processes and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds.
  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Demonstrates problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Interpersonal and communications skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Requires excellent interpersonal and communications skills in order to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
