For over three decades, Tunisia and UNIDO have been closely cooperating. The beginning of this partnership dates back over 30 years when UNIDO established its dedicated mission in the mid-1990s. This longstanding collaboration between Tunisia and UNIDO encompasses a diverse range of initiatives and projects, all working towards the common goal of promoting inclusive and sustainable industrial development.

This shared objective underscores their joint commitment to creating new economic prospects, improving quality of life, and promoting a robust and environmentally respectful future.

The current collaboration involves the implementation of 12 projects under UNIDO’s direction, with a total budget of approximately 35 million US dollars. These projects cover several sectors, including crafts, agriculture, environment, industry 4.0, promoting women’s empowerment, and fostering Arab cooperation in accreditation.

With the aim of highlighting the results and achievements obtained in Tunisia, the UNIDO Office in Tunisia is considering hiring a local expert in communication and visibility to:

  • Enhance visibility and ensure consistency of UNIDO’s identity in Tunisia among its various partners and stakeholders;
  • Raise awareness about projects and activities currently being implemented by UNIDO in Tunisia;
  • Harmonize internal and external communication around the various ongoing projects and activities;
  • Raise public awareness about development issues addressed by UNIDO.

Given his position, the National Expert in Communication and Visibility is expected to manage the update and implementation of the communication strategy of the UNIDO Country Office (CO) in Tunisia, with the aim of ensuring better visibility of UNIDO Tunisia projects, through the implementation of the following tasks.

MAIN TASKS

Under the direct supervision of the UNIDO Representative in Tunisia and in collaboration with the communication teams of the various ongoing projects, the position holder will undertake the following tasks:

  • Develop, in close collaboration with the UNIDO Representative in Tunisia, program coordinators, communication teams of each program, and UNIDO International:
  • A comprehensive institutional communication strategy for the Tunisia office, aimed at ensuring coherence and identity of UNIDO in Tunisia and enhancing visibility of national and regional projects.
  • An internal communication strategy aimed at effectively sharing information regarding different projects and promoting synergies while avoiding duplication of efforts.
  • Update and implement the communication and visibility strategy/plan in collaboration with project teams in Tunisia and in accordance with UNIDO communication guidelines.
  • Manage communication campaigns with project teams in Tunisia to reach target audiences and objectives, aligning with UNIDO communication guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the UNIDO Country Representative (CR) in Tunisia to coordinate communication policies and channels to be used for the project, including guidance for UNIDO’s participation in project events and pre- and post-event publications.
  • Develop a set of bilingual (French and English) promotional communication and visibility materials bearing the project’s visual identity, including, among others, newsletter and fact sheet templates on ongoing implementation projects, press kits, brochures, billboards, project banners, etc.
  • Develop a proposal for a semi-annual newsletter for the projects and prepare for dissemination.
  • Develop and regularly update communication elements on the project’s digital channels such as key messages, visuals, impact stories for national, regional, and local media, websites, as well as appropriate content for social media platforms.
  • Manage online/offline events such as preparing press releases and media advisories.
  • Promote donor and project visibility.
  • Coordinate with service providers regarding desktop publishing, graphic design, and technical writing/editing of visibility materials, ensuring compliance with UNIDO communication guidelines.
  • Provide high-quality action photographs and videos of project activities, and if possible, short documentary films about the project.
  • Coordinate with communication focal points of various ongoing projects in developing consistent common supports aligned with UNIDO’s identity.
  • Maintain a database of all communication and visibility materials, as well as produced photographs.
  • a final report including the updated communication and visibility strategy/plan, as well as the annual communication work plan.

ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • An advanced university degree in communication, journalism, information, or any other relevant discipline is required.

Technical and Functional Experience

  • At least 5 years of practical experience in the field of communication and visibility, including international experience involving technical cooperation in developing countries, are required. Experience in using various software to develop visibility materials is necessary. Experience in donor-funded programs is desirable.

Languages

  • Proficiency in English, French, and Arabic, both written and spoken, is required.
