Background:
UNICEF is managing a significant construction portfolio in Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar. Currently more than 80 facilities in the camps are under reconstruction/renovation, and the new construction of temporary and semi-permanent structure have been commissioned. In addition, the urgent renovation works in UNICEF office facilities have been started. All these projects are implemented by UNICEF and executed by construction companies. To ensure compliance, timely implementation and quality assurance, and in the absence of UNICEF CXB-based construction engineer, a full-time Construction Engineer consultant is to be engaged for the period of six month implement the project portfolio. The construction engineer will require to manage the overall activities, provide technical support for all associated works, maintain smooth coordination between all the party’s and ensure construction works are being conducted as per the set timeline and standards.
Under the general direction and guidance of the Chief of Field Office and technical supervision of Construction Specialist P3 in Dhaka the Construction Engineer in CXB will be required to:

Minimum requirements:
• Knowledge of structural drawing of reinforced concrete, steel, masonry, and timber as applied to construction of buildings and structures
• In hand knowledge in steel/prefab structure construction.
• Knowledge of finishing works, interior works
• Knowledge & experience of documentation in terms of Project handover
• Proven ability to identify potential problems and recommend appropriate solutions
• Ability to coordinate with UNICEF staffs, address & respond to queries

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
