UNICEF is seeking an individual expert to support UNICEF in ensuring the implementation of PSEA measures within internal UNICEF and implementing partners, as well as to support UNICEF’s role as co-chair in the PSEA Inter-Agency Network.

 

How can you make a difference? 

Under direct supervision from Chief Child Protection, the Consultant is required to deliver the following scope of work:

  1. Facilitate orientation workshops and refresher sessions on the UNICEF PSEA Policies to UNICEF personnel, consultants, volunteers, and implementing partners (IPs).
  2. Support and build the capacities of UNICEF personnel and IPs to conduct SEA risk self-assessments using the UN Common Risk Assessment Tools for all UNICEF IPs to reach full capacity (low risk) and ensure PSEA policies and mitigation measures are in place.
  3. Support PSEA awareness-raising activities with UNICEF partners and communities
  4. In collaboration with the Child Protection Team, enhance mechanisms for reporting allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA), strengthen community-based reporting mechanisms and the capacity of integrated service providers for the protection of women and children (UPTDPPA).

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

  • Bachelor’s degree from a related field study.
  • Indonesian national with a minimum of six years’ experience in the field of prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse and sexual harassment, child protection, gender-based violence, and humanitarian affairs.
  • Experience in community-based complaint mechanisms/ SEA reporting channels, SEA risk assessment, victim/survivor assistance, and/or engagement with national authorities on PSEA is desirable.
  • Experience working with UNICEF or other UN agencies is highly valued and will be considered an asset.
  • Understanding of UN Internal Policies on PSEA and UN Common Tools.
  • Strong coordination, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills in English.
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws. 

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
