Duration of Contract: The total duration of the contract is for 9 months

Duty Station: The consultant will be based at Ministry of water supply and energy development (MoWRED), Karnali

Academic Qualification:

• Master’s degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Civil Engineering, Environment/Sanitation Engineering, Public Health, Planning, Sociology and Rural Development.
• Additional training in Social Behavior Change, Health Education; Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Communication for Development (Programme Communication) focusing to WASH, is an asset.

Work Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in WASH governance, water supply, WASH in schools, WASH in Emergency and water quality
• A good working knowledge of recent developments and approaches on safely managed water, sanitation, and hygiene services, water quality, WASH in schools, and WASH in emergencies,
• Demonstrated experience implementing water supply projects, WASH in school initiatives, water quality and recovery and reconstruction work in emergencies including result-based, human rights and gender/disability issues, specifically relating to children and women, and the current UN/ Govt’s position and approaches.
• Good theoretical and technical knowledge of local and provincial planning and management,
• Excellent knowledge and skills of computer in Autocad, Microsoft and data management,
• Strong communication skills (written and oral) in English are required.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
