Project Description

Sharr National Park in Kosovo has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as a National Park Promotion and Conservation Expert. Sharr Mountain National Park is the first national park declared by the Assembly of Kosovo in 1986. Natural attractions and convenient geographical position enable the development of three basic modes of tourism (stationary tourism, weekend-picnic and transit) throughout the year. The Directorate of the park has a small but motivated staff that is interested in developing its capacities and sustainable efforts to promote and protect the cultural and touristic offer of the national park.

The PCRV will collaborate with the staff of the Directorate on mapping the current state of tourism in NP Sharri, develop communications with actors of cultural tourism with the public and private sector as well as with NGOs, and creation of tourist maps for nature walks, mountain climbing, skiing, etc. The PCRV will also help develop a marketing strategy at local, regional and international level.

Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Kosovo together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
