OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST

This involves promoting freedom of expression, cultural diversity, education for global citizenship, and protecting heritage while addressing social inequalities and combating discrimination, racism, and hate speech. UNESCO focuses on mobilising rights-based knowledge and ethical principles to foster social inclusion, cohesion, and peacebuilding. Leveraging its expertise, UNESCO assists Member States in promoting participatory societies, enhancing intercultural dialogue, engaging young people, and advancing inclusive social development. The organisation’s strategic approach, as outlined in UNESCO’s Medium-Term Strategy (C/4s), the approved Programme and Budget (C/5), emphasises effective social policies, human rights, scientific freedom, and tackling all forms of discrimination to achieve peacebuilding and social cohesion, contributing to the overarching goal of sustainable development.
