National Project Coordinator

The National project coordinator shall operate under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Georgia, the direct supervision of the Assistant FAO Representative in Georgia, and functional and technical guidance by the LTO in REU, in close collaboration with the Technical Advisor/Programme Officer (P-and other FAO Country Office staff in Georgia, as well as the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and other relevant state entities, Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and other stakeholders and partners in Georgia.
Management of the FAO GCP/GEO/031/AUS Project: ‘’Inclusive Rural Development and Sustainable Agriculture’‘ and support in coordination of rural development activities of FAO in Georgia
Tasks and responsibilities:
  • Day-to-day management of the FAO project. This includes planning, monitoring and reporting of the project activities and results, provision of relevant regular reports, budget revisions and the financial management of the project
  • Prepare technical specifications, ToRs and other inputs to facilitate proper administration of the project in the areas of procurement, HR, travel and finance/assets.
  • Support in coordination of FAO work for rural development in Georgia
  • Build effective partnerships and work in close collaboration with relevant Government and Non-Government entities to ensure smooth delivery of project results
  • In close collaboration with ADA Office in Tbilisi, to ensure knowledge exchange is organized between different ADA-funded projects in the region.
  • In close collaboration with REU technical unit to establish technical linkages and visible information flow with REU and HQ on the areas of technical assistance
  • Lead all project-related local planning, management and coordination meetings
  • Ensure effective communication of project results
  • Act as secretary of the Project Steering Committee meetings and prepare the supporting documents
  • Any other tasks as requested by direct supervisor
Candidates Will Be Assessed Against The Following:
Minimum Requirements:
  • University degree in agriculture economics or related field
  • Up to 10 years of relevant practical field experience in agri-policy development and / or rural development;
  • Working knowledge (Level C) of English is required
  • National of the country of assignment
Technical/Functional Skills:
  • Computer literacy with spreadsheets, databases, data and analytical information management, Microsoft
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work as manager of international projects in the country including supervision of staff
