Organizational Setting

 

The National Technical Officer TB Public Private Mix (NTO PPM) works under overall guidance of WHO Representative to Myanmar, and direct supervision of the Medical Officer TB. The NTO will support the work of WHO to accelerate TB control in Myanmar as a flagship programme of the WHO SEA Region. The support is expected to improve TB Prevention, case finding, and quality of care. In additions deaths due to the disease will decrease including catastrophic cost incurred by families. National TB Strategic Plan for 2021-2015 will guide the interventions which is aligned to the WHO GPW, SDG, END TB and UNHLM targets.

 

 

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

 

·         To assist in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating public private and public public TB (PPM) care and prevention activities

 

·         To support coordination of various partners involved in PPM activities

 

·         To support planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating activities related to drug sensitive and childhood TB

 

·         To facilitate PPM review and Childhood TB missions

 

·         To support addressing underlying social determinants of TB

 

·         To assist to improve mandatory case notification system

 

·         To perform any appropriate duties as required.

 

 

 

Work Relations and Partnerships

 

The National Technical Officer: PPM will lead coordination and cooperation to achieve the responsibilities. This will require close work with NTP, Regional and State TB teams and partners. In additional increasing GP and volunteer participation in TB control would require their orientation, motivation, and regular follow up. Mobilizing resources to meet key gap is required to bridge key gaps at response and close monitoring and application to in country opportunities need to be tapped.

 

 

 

Impact of functions

 

The NTO: PPM will work very closely with National TB Program and partners to strengthen and improve PPM contribution to the national targets. In additional the incumbent will support introduction of new tools to improve Drug sensitive and child TB management

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

 

 

Educational background

 

Essential: University Degree in Medicine

 

Desirable: Post graduate Degree health or Public health will be an asset.

 

 

 

Professional Experience and knowledge

 

Essential: Experiences of TB control and care for 5 years and more

 

Desirable: Working knowledge of TB epidemiology and surveillance

 

Other skills:

 

  • Good understanding of National TB response through PPM is required.  
  • Proficient in the management of drug sensitive and childhood TB   

language skills

 

Excellent knowledge of English and knowledge Myanmar Language.
