Context
UN Volunteer WASH Officer will be reporting and work under the overall guidance and direction of the Chief of WASH, and work directly and in close collaboration with WASH Specialist and WASH Officer supporting the institutional strengthening and evidence generation components of the programme. UNICEF will support the UN Volunteer with continuous supervision and contribute to her/his professional development. The UN Volunteer will set out an annual plan and performance objectives with her/his supervisor that will be regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance to evolving needs and required changes in the implementation of the programme. Weekly meetings with supervisor and other team members with whom he/she will work on a day-to-day basis will ensure regular communication and that ongoing activities and priorities are appropriately monitored and followed up. Regular meetings with other team members will also be conducted to ensure coordination, information-sharing, and learning across various projects implemented within section. UN Volunteer WASH Officer will be supporting the institutional strengthening, climate and evidence generation related components within the WASH section.

Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of WASH , the UN Volunteer will:
A. Support for programme implementation and monitoring
• Support coordination with Government stakeholders in relation to the technical support to Government institutions for national systems’ strengthening towards climate resilient WASH services at community and institutional level, including development / review of technical documentation, support organization and facilitation and documentation of Steering Committees and Technical Working Groups related to UNICEF Jordan technical support for institutional strengthening.
• Support the monitoring of activities and outputs related to technical support for systems’ strengthening among UNICEF stakeholders in the WASH and other sectors, including but not limited to Ministry of Water and Irrigation (MWI), Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ), Water Utilities, Ministry of health, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Environment, among others.
• Provide technical support to stakeholders, partners and other members of the team for the integration of climate resilience (mitigation and adaptation measures) into UNICEF WASH field implementation activities, including contribution towards field monitoring.
• Undertake field visits to current and previous project sites for monitoring, data collection and coordination with partners and stakeholders, as needed for coordination, evidence generation and monitoring of the UNICEF WASH programme. B. Support for evidence generation and knowledge management
• Support the identification of evidence and information gaps with a focus on climate resilience, adaptation to climate change, that can support the implementation of UNICEF WASH related programmes.
• Support the collection of data, drafting and development of technical notes and other documentation that contribute to increased evidence in support of UNICEF Jordan activities for institutional strengthening and integration of climate resilience into national frameworks. C. Communication and visibility
• Support the development of advocacy and communication materials and activities related to institutional capacities for WASH, Climate Change and Environment, including preparation of professional presentation tools (such as PPT) for internal and external activities, and contribute to briefs, concept notes and proposals to be used by partnerships, communication and fund-raising departments.
• Support the preparation of internal and external reporting requirements related to institutional strengthening, by providing technical inputs from the monitoring of activities under his / her responsibility.
Eligibility criteria
Nationality
Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.
Requirements
Required experience
15 years of experience in WASH, climate resilience and adaptation / mitigation / DRR related areas. • Experience working in a low- or middle-income country, including experience in support to Government institutions. • Experience in project implementation, monitoring and reporting. • Previous experience in working with UNICEF / UN agencies is an asset • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills; • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development; • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment; • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;

Required education level
