About our opportunity
As one of our Natural Areas team members you will be carrying out work activities associated with natural areas operations – including but not limited to environmental weed control, natural area conservation works, maintaining and constructing our extensive recreational and fire trail with networks, some prescribed burning as well as soft landscaping within council’s natural area environments.
Typically working within small crews and led by a crew leader, our natural areas labourers are maintaining the region’s natural area environments. The tasks and duties of this position will involve manual handling/labouring tasks, chemical spraying driving a 4WD vehicle, operating an ATV and operating other relevant plant and equipment while carrying out general vegetation maintenance.
This position will have you working with modern equipment while looking after a diverse range of natural areas such as foreshore zones, riparian zones and urban interface with some exposure to rainforest zones.
About you
To be successful in this position, ideally you will have demonstrated current and/or recent experience maintaining and working within natural areas environments, undertaking the duties described above. Safety is a key priority for us as an organisation, and we will be seeking candidates who not only have the knowledge and physical ability to safely undertake the manual tasks required in this role, we want you to have a genuine desire to contribute to a positive safety culture.
Paired with the above-mentioned skills and experience, you will also hold a truck licence (minimum class – MR) and either currently hold or be willing to obtain a Construction Induction card prior to commencement.
