We are seeking a qualified ecologist to provide ecological and Biodiversity Net Gain
(BNG) advice on planning applications, and support other services to deliver projects with
nature in mind.

You will have excellent technical knowledge, along with great communication, problem solving
skills to regulate Biodiversity Net Gain as part of the development process. Good botany skills
are desired (FISC 3 or above), with working knowledge of BNG and using Defra’s metric an
essential requirement. Ideally you will hold CIEEM membership, Bat and/or GCN Licenses and have
experience supervising ecological surveys and works affecting protected species.

You join us at an exciting time as our biodiversity work expands, our team is creating
landscape scale habitats on Council and partner land, responding to the Council’s Nature
Emergency and developing a pipeline of opportunities to invest in nature as we lead the
formulation of a Local Nature Recovery Strategy for Cheshire.

Initially this post is fixed term, for 2yrs, but could become permanent, as income from BNG
related fees increases.

We may consider applicants not meeting all criteria at Assistant Natural Environment Officer
level. Grade 7 (SCP 17-23) £28,770 – £32,076. Please make it clear as part of your application
