The intern will assist in habitat assessment of Yellow-billed cuckoos during the breeding season. This work is important to support the recovery of this threatened species in the park. Monitoring and comparing results from the past two years will allow the park to quantify the need for and impact of restoration projects. Habitat assessments require identifying dominant vegetation and estimating relative cover percentage of that vegetation. The intern will enter survey data into standardized spreadsheets, create survey detection maps in ArcGIS, and create a report for park staff.
