About Us:
Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation (WTOAC) is a Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (Vic) and was established in 1998.
WTOAC is governed by a Board of Directors of Traditional Owners. Each Director represents a Family Group of the Wadawurrung People. Its role is to protect and advance the aspirations of Wadawurrung People by managing their cultural heritage rights and interests, as well as supporting them in the achievement of the goals and aspirations as outlined in the Wadawurrung Country Plan.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Natural Resource Management (NRM) Team Leader to join our Caring for Country team, to help preserve the rich heritage and natural environment of the Wadawurrung People.
Working under the direction of the Senior NRM Team Leader, the primary objective of the NRM Team Leader is to provide hands-on leadership, guidance and training to the NRM Field Representatives. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Day-to-day implementation of WTOAC’s Action Plans and services
- Landscape management
- Plant Nursery Duties
- Revegetation
- Chemical & Chainsaw Usage
- Pest Management
- Machinery Operation & Maintenance
Travel across Wadawurrung country is required
Selection Criteria:
- Qualifications in Conservation Management and/or previous relevant experience in a similar role
- Proven experience in leading a team, managing people and job allocation
- Hands on experience in NRM and/or traditional cultural land management activities
- Knowledge and understanding of equipment, chemicals and practices when working on country (Including relevant certificates – ACUP, Chainsaw use, First Aid, Drivers License)
- Excellent customer relation and communication skills with an ability to connect with external stakeholders
- Implement systems and processes, and comply with all safety regulations and WTOAC policies and procedures
- Cultural knowledge of traditional Wadawurrung land practices
- Proven ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders
