Description:   Natural Resource Services, Inc. (NRS) is looking for qualified candidates to fill our Natural Resource Technician positions.  These individuals will assist our project managers and ecologists on duties associated with prairie, woodland and wetland installations and maintenance. Projects are located primarily in Illinois with occasional work occurring in surrounding states.

Duties and tasks could include: Operation of zero turn mowers, light utility vehicles, small power equipment and tractors with mowers and tillage/seeding equipment.  General labor including hand seeding, raking, planting and weed whipping. Target specific herbicide application may also be required on some projects.

Qualifications:   Strong interest in biology, ecology, forestry, botany, natural resources management or related field. Additional skills/abilities required: mechanical skills, a good/insurable driving record, ability to work unsupervised and follow directions, ability to read and interpret project specifications and site plans.

Requirements:  Willingness and ability to work outside in sometimes adverse weather conditions on occasional uneven terrain. Ability to bend/lift/carry up to 50lbs. Comfortable using herbicides and a willingness to obtain a MN Commercial Applicators License if necessary. Ability to complete overnight stays and occasional weekend work may be required.

Pay Rate: Dependent on candidate’s qualifications and experience. $17-$22/hr. Most projects are subject to Prevailing Wage rates which typically exceed $70/hr

Benefits: Potential for end of season bonus and annual return bonus for seasonal hourly employees. Additional benefits that may be available include: Simple IRA match, health insurance, HSA, holiday pay and monthly cell phone stipend.

Hours:  Average 40-50 hrs./week.  April start through the end of October if available, with potential for longer term and year-round employment.

Location: The NRS office is located in Princeville, IL. Employees report directly to the office and drive/ride in a company vehicle to the job site. Depending on the project location there may be opportunities for employees to report directly to the job site.
