Nature-Based Educator- Schools Team Lead, Center for Wildlife– Dynamic and unique conservation medicine and nature-based education center seeks full-time, experienced and passionate nature-based education professional. Under the supervision of the Education & Outreach Director, the Nature Based Educator- Schools Team Lead (NBE-STL) assists with coordinating booking, promoting, presenting, creating displays and materials, administrative support, and ambassador care and enrichment for the Education and Outreach Program. The NBE-STL is also responsible for representing CFW and providing tours and attending fundraising events where appropriate. The NBE-STL serves as a member of the CFW team and will collaborate with all departments to support the greater mission of Center for Wildlife.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, self-motivation, along with a natural curiosity for learning and a growth mindset. Candidates should display an ability to incorporate stories, statistics, current wildlife challenges, and opportunities for citizen stewardship in spoken and written word, along with specific knowledge of New England Wildlife- range, diets, habitats, current challenges, research, and management practices. Ideal candidates will also have experience training and mentoring volunteers and interns, along with superior time management and organizational skills. BA / MS from a four-year college or university in the fields of environmental education, environmental science, wildlife ecology, biology, or zoology preferred. Interpreter or naturalist certification is a plus. 1-2 years of experience in nature-based education required. Due to the nature of programming, some nights and weekend work is a must.

Since inception CFW has treated over 65,000 injured and orphaned wild animals, and presented environmental education programming to over 100,000 community members. in 2019, Center for Wildlife completed fundraising, construction, and transitioning to a brand new $6M facility that includes a Nature Center, outdoor amphitheater, auditorium and indoor classroom, ambassador campus, along with access to trails as part of it’s environmental education programming opportunities.
POSITION PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Education and Outreach Director, the Nature Based Educator- Schools Team Lead (NBE-STL) assists with presenting, promoting, creating displays and materials, administrative support, and ambassador care and enrichment for the Education Program. The NBE-STL is also responsible for training, mentoring and engaging Education Program volunteers and interns, along with representing CFW and providing tours and attending fundraising events where appropriate. The NBE-STL serves as a member of the CFW team and will provide the EOD with support in all aspects of the Education program as needed.

V. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
BA / MS from a four-year college or university in the fields of environmental education, environmental science, wildlife ecology, biology, or zoology preferred. 1-2 years of experience in environmental education required. Classroom management experience is a plus. Experience working at a non-profit and experience with summer or seasonal holiday camps is desired but not required. Combination of education and experience required performing the duties of the assigned position. Candidates with a naturalist background or certification ideal.
