About the Role

Wild Bear Nature Center is seeking Nature Education Interns to join our education team and help lead our Summer Nature Camp programs for school-age children. This is a hands-on, outdoor-focused position perfect for creative, child-centered folks who love nature and want to grow their skills in environmental education.

Interns work alongside experienced Nature Educators to deliver engaging, nature-based curriculum that blends science, art, music, games, stories, crafts, and outdoor exploration—all outside whenever possible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist educators in planning and leading full-day, hands-on nature programs
  • Support safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environments
  • Help organize and maintain education materials
  • Bring fresh ideas and creativity to existing programs
  • Ensure children are safe, supported, and accounted for at all times

Qualifications

  • Interest in (or progress toward) a degree in education, environmental studies, natural science, or a related field and/or experience working with school-age children
  • Ability to pass Colorado Department of Human Services and FBI background checks
  • Two positive professional references
  • Interest or experience in full-day, innovative nature programming

Schedule & Compensation

Camp runs Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 AM–4:00 PM for 10 weeks.

  • Training: Begins May 26, 2026, Continued training June 19th, July 3rd.
  • Camp Dates: June 1, 2026 – August 7, 2026.
  • Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week
  • Stipend: $80 per day
  • Housing: Staff housing may be available through our partner organization, Eldora Ski Resort

Previous experience is helpful but not required. A passion for education, nature, and working with kids is essential!
