Nature Friendly Farming Adviser – IRC151415

Contract type: Permanent p/t (22.5 hrs pw)

Summary

Our ambitions in the NT for Nature Recovery, Climate Adaptation, Carbon Capture and Sustainable
Land Management are huge. We want landscapes with more nature, that are accessible to more
people, and that help to address the climate crisis. If you’re experienced in delivering land
use change and environmental farm advice, we’d love you to help us achieve this vision.

What it’s like to work here

You’ll be part of Midlands and East of England NT Land and Nature team in our internal
consultancy: a multidisciplinary team of experts, from curators and nature conservation
advisors to project managers and archaeologists, who provide specialist consultancy advice to
the places we care for, to help make things happen.

Your contractual location will be the nearest National Trust office to your home location, but
our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and
meetings at National Trust places. We’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you
should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40–60% of your working week.

For more information or a chat about the role, please contact Chris Soans, [email protected]

What you’ll be doing

You’ll provide support, direction and technical advice to property and estate teams on all
aspects of the management of our agricultural land. This includes land farmed and managed ‘in
hand’, as well as supporting our tenants and others responsible for managing National Trust
land.

You’ll be providing advice on sustainable nature friendly farming, delivering innovative
approaches to re-purposing our land to deliver more for nature, carbon, and access. Working
closely with our farming tenants, you’ll build relationships and trust, to offer support and
advice to enable them to develop and maintain profitable, sustainable farm businesses, whilst
also helping to deliver the NT strategy across their holdings.

Helping and supporting the development of new Agri-environment schemes, you’ll see
opportunities for high nature status farming and for the creation of bigger and better habitats
and carbon capture. You’ll share and champion your expertise in Agri-ecological farming helping
others to transition to new innovative farming practices that move forward our ambitious
strategy at pace.

and substantial practical knowledge of farming and other land management systems.
