Global Canopy is a data-driven not for profit that targets the market forces destroying
nature. We do this by improving transparency and accountability. We provide innovative
open-access data, clear metrics, and actionable insights to leading companies, financial
institutions, governments and campaigning organisations worldwide.
Nature-related Finance: Nature loss poses material risks to financial institutions, as
studies show more than half of global GDP is moderately or highly dependent on nature. Lack of
high-quality nature-related data is one of the biggest obstacles holding financial institutions
back from addressing nature-related risks. Global Canopy innovates to increase the scope,
quality and accessibility of freely available data. We work to enable investors, lenders,
insurers, financial regulators and others in the sector to identify and mitigate their impacts
and dependencies on nature – and to seize the opportunity of investing in nature-positive
solutions. Our work on nature-related finance centres on three collaborative flagship projects,
the Taskforce on
Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), ENCORE and The Little Book of Investing
in Nature.
In this role, you will be part of capacity building efforts to help economic actors
explore their exposure to nature-related risk and take the first steps to understand their
impacts and dependencies on nature through the development of ENCORE education and training
materials and activities.
In this role, you will support in delivering the ENCORE programme of work, specifically
leading on the development of training and capacity building materials as well as assisting
with ENCORE-TNFD familiarization.
Critical to the role is the capacity to understand nature-related finance on a
technical level, and be able to translate that expertise into accessible and relevant formats
for non-specialist audiences.
To be successful in this role, these are the things that will matter the
most:
-
Knowledge of market practices of how to locate, evaluate and assess sustainability
risks preferably from hands-on experience as a consultant or working within an organisation
on sustainability issues. -
It is an advantage if you are interested in or have experience in developing
training on nature-related risk specifically. -
Ability to communicate complex nature-related finance concepts to non-expert
audiences. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
