Introduction
UNDP Viet Nam is commissioning a National Consultant to support the integration of NBCS and gender equality in ecotourism and rural agricultural tourism initiatives.
Women are encouraged to bid. Preference will be given to equally technically qualified women.

Period of assignment/services: January 2026 – August 2027
Overall objective: The objectives of this consultancy are to:
• Review the current status and provide recommendations for better operation and management of NBET and rural agricultural tourism, including Application of UNDP Social and Environmental Standards (SES) and NBCS.
• Analyse the development of potential models and NBET, agricultural tourism products; and linking with resource conservation and sustainable livelihoods for people.
• Develop gender-sensitive, contextually relevant knowledge products that incorporating environmental safeguards, social and gender considerations, and NBCS into ecotourism and rural agricultural tourism models across the three project locations.
• Facilitate the establishment and operation of the CoPs: Lead the design, initiation, and formalisation of women-led CoPs that convenes practitioners, community representatives, tourism entrepreneurs, government agencies, and other relevant stakeholders engaged in nature-based ecotourism and rural agricultural tourism in the three target locations.
• Provide support to the development of bankable business plans that contribute to sustainable ocean-based livelihoods, increased incomes, and improved local resilience to the identified/selected eco-tourism businesses.
• Promote women’s leadership and participation: Ensure that women, particularly from rural and ethnic minority communities, play a central role in the CoP’s governance, decision-making, and knowledge-sharing processes, thereby fostering an enabling environment for women’s leadership in sustainable tourism.
• Strengthen knowledge exchange and capacity-building: Facilitate the development of a sustainability and action plan and working mechanisms for the CoP for sharing best practices, lessons learned, and innovations in nature-based ecotourism and rural agricultural tourism, with emphasis on sustainable livelihoods, biodiversity conservation, and gender equality.
