The Opportunity

This is an exciting time at NetHope as the organization operationalizes its 2024-2030 Strategic Plan and develops programs and services in collaboration with Members and partners. We’re looking for a NDLI Marketing Consultant or Marketing Agency that will play an important role and work with a dynamic and passionate group of colleagues in achievement of our mission.

Job Title

NetHope is seeking and experienced, organized, and enthusiastic Marketing Professional or Marketing Agency to amplify, create and execute a multi-channel marketing and audience acquisition strategy for the work we do in our NetHope Digital Leadership Institute (NDLI) Program.

Specific responsibilities include:

The duties of the NetHope NDLI Marketing Consultant or Marketing Agency will consist of:

  • With the team develop a marketing strategy for the NetHope Digital Leadership Institute in line with NetHope’s Strategy, the program goals and the NetHope brand.
  • Creating creative assets in collaboration with the internal marketing team, such as design files for NDLI.
  • Engaging and widening our reach to NetHope’s current Member organizations and their staff, new types of NGOs and relevant other stakeholders in our sector. This may, for example, involve conducting interviews, collecting testimonials, giving shoutouts, engaging them on new course identification and builds, and increasing online visibility to increase storytelling, brand awareness, and NDLI participation.
  • Devising and implementing marketing plans for NDLI specific courses. This will involve raising awareness through effective marketing strategies, such as identifying suitable platforms for promotion, utilizing paid ads, and managing outreach efforts.
  • Generating marketing content, including one-pagers, website content, social media posts, and overseeing marketing campaigns and events.
  • Carrying out market research to pinpoint target audiences and crafting messaging that resonates with them.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Communications to ensure alignment of NDLI marketing efforts with organizational marketing goals.
  • Develop and oversee content marketing programs, including creation of blog posts, articles, and other engaging content for target audiences.
  • Create and schedule social media content for posting.
  • Manage email marketing campaigns, including newsletters and other email content.
  • Utilize marketing automation software to streamline tasks such as email marketing and lead generation.
  • Analyse marketing data to provide reports showcasing the effectiveness of marketing efforts.

Knowledge and skills

  • A creative thinker, strategist, and do-er who has a proven track record of developing creative ideas and communication/marketing campaigns and driving implementation with a variety of stakeholders. Ability to recognize and curate narratives to highlight impact.
  • Great writing, editing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to quickly synthesize detailed program information and professionally prepare strategic communication materials to an external audience.
  • Skilled in project management and advancing multiple projects with tight timelines; great organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Results oriented; meets or exceeds goals regularly and uses a combination of analysis, fact-finding, experience, and judgement to improve and problem solve.
  • Strong understanding and demonstrated skill in the use of social media, digital media, and the engagement of audiences through technology. Interest in innovating as new technology and best practices in the field emerge.
  • Can navigate complexity, change, and ambiguity while continuing to function productively and strategically.
  • Initiative to take on new projects and exhibit a positive, proactive attitude. Willing to take a ‘hands on’ approach, enjoys working hard and looks for solutions to challenges; able to act and react as necessary; even if limited information is available.
  • HTML or other web programming and proficiency in programs/systems related to web design strongly preferred.
  • Usage of data to drive insights and action plans to further strategic goals of the organization

Education and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations or a similar discipline. Experience in global nonprofit organizations a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • NetHope Member experience highly valued, other NGO experience a plus.
  • Experience with managing budgets and budget forecasting.
  • High level of literacy and ability to leverage applications such as Asana, Salesforce, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Miro, Slack, Zoom, Adobe Creative Suite, Hootsuite, WordPress, Google Analytics, Cvent, email marketing software, project management systems, and equivalent programs.

Reporting and Working Conditions:

  • This position is a consultancy position that reports to and works closely with the Director of Communications as a part of the NetHope Marketing team. This position or agency will also work closely with the NDLI Training Manager and the Digital Programs team.
  • NetHope is a virtual organization, so our team, our Members, and our Partners are located around the world. Due to the global nature of the organization, meetings may thus be required at any time of the day to meet with our stakeholders in varying time zones. To meet these needs, NetHope embraces flexible schedules for team members, and we work with each other to be located globally, but still maintain a reasonable work time balance.
  • As a global organization, we welcome qualified applicants with diverse backgrounds from various locations, and who may have non-traditional work patterns.
  • NetHope is a networked team-oriented environment with staff working across functional areas to produce high-quality programs, services, and connections with our Members. We value open communication and believe that a staff working as a team produces the best outcomes.
  • This position is 100% remote and virtual. A good internet connection (preferably broadband) is required as you must be able to join video calling.
  • The commencement date for this role is immediate and will continue until June 30, 2024.
  • The consultant will work between 25 to 30 hours weekly.
