Job Summary

Applies knowledge about curriculum, requirements and educational activities to coordinate professional health education programs. Coordinates and maintains program operations, which may include teaching and learning activities, program curriculum, learner scheduling, maintaining databases, tracking learner compliance, and program accreditation.

Department Description

The Nephrology Division spans multiple campuses with faculty and staff located at the UCSF Health, San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Zuckerberg San Francisco General  The Nephrology Division consists of faculty, fellows, and staff whose work is grounded in deep commitment to and respect for patients with kidney disease.

The Nephrology Division has employed and trained leaders in academic nephrology, superb clinical research scientists and basic scientists, and outstanding clinical nephrologists. Our faculty are leading experts in adult nephrology: including acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, electrolyte disorders, and kidney transplantation.

Our mission continues in this tradition: expanding the frontiers of basic and clinical investigation in nephrology, training the next generation of academic nephrology leaders and providing the highest level of patient care. Our division within and the UCSF School of Medicine overall provides a premier academic environment for faculty and trainees to provide outstanding clinical care and to be at forefront of kidney research worldwide.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and three or more years of relevant experience and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant policies and regulatory requirements. Solid knowledge of health professions education program requirements. Thorough knowledge of health professions education industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting and finance, and the ability to prepare, interperate, and analyze financial reports.  Prepare financial budget documentation inclusive of payroll and other operational expenses.
  • Thorough knowledge of administrative analysis and operations research. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement processes and systems. Thorough knowledge of the administrative and operational implications in a program.
  • Demonstrated experience and documented excellence in oral and written communications skills; includes active listening and critical thinking. Service oriented and responsive to questions and requests. Ability to interact in a professional, resourceful, and courteous manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to develop working relationships within department and with learners. Actively cooperates and supports the work of others. Ability to work productively with anyone regardless of background. Empathetic and aware of impact on others. Strong problem solving skills to assist learners and resolve issues.
  • Excellent organizational skills, analytical, and demonstrated attention to detail. Ability to complete work and meet established deadlines in an accurate and timely manner, and to manage short and competing deadlines.
  • Thorough knowledge of educational software and platforms. Demonstrated ability to analyze and seek solutions to enhance the user experience. Excellent computer skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of data management, documentation methods used in investigating and presenting findings about the program. Ability to generate computer reports, checking for errors, correcting and submitting accurate reports. Skills include statistical analysis of data across databases and systems.
  • Ability to take initiative and follow through independently on projects.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and last minutes requests efficiently and accurately.
  • Demonstrated record of excellent reliability in attendance and punctuality.
  • Demonstrated commitment to projects and strong initiative.
  • Agile learner with demonstrated ability to manage several projects simultaneously, respond rapidly to conflicting priorities, and handle tasks with high degree of accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in related area preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of ACGME, CME, and GME requirements
  • Knowledge of UCSF systems and administration (UCPath, MedHub, PeopleSoft, PeopleConnect, MyExpense, BearBuy)
