About Us

Climate Action Network Australia (CANA) supports the Australian climate movement to achieve real action to protect people at home and abroad from climate change, to safeguard our natural environment, and to build a fair, clean, healthy Australia for everyone. We operate behind the scenes to drive strategic thinking and campaign collaboration between members including GetUp!, Australia Youth Climate Coalition, Greenpeace, The Wilderness Society, the Australian Conservation Foundation, WWF, Oxfam, 350.org, Solar Citizens, health and faith networks, trade unions, think tanks and grassroots groups. We are a small team located in Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Position Details

  • Contract: 1 year contract – full time (1.0 FTE) or 4 days / 30 hours per week pro-rata (0.8 FTE)
  • Remuneration: $70,000 – $74,999 (depending on experience)

Role

The Network Organiser assists with developing the collaboration and coordination of the climate movement through CANA membership and activities.

They assist with outreach to new members, engagement of members in CANA activities and organising major events. They manage the network’s collaborative webinar program and are responsible for administrative requirements necessary for maintaining the network.

Responsibilities

  • Aid continued and improved climate movement coordination and collaboration in line with the CANA organisational strategy
    • Enable CANA members to meet regularly and at key moments to share insights, analysis and strategic thinking to maximise cooperation and collaboration
    • Facilitate opportunities to share knowledge and provide the movement the opportunity to better understand individual campaigns and strategies in order to maximise the chances of alignment and mutually reinforcing activities
  • Assist with outreach to new members and engagement of all members in CANA activities
    • Produce regular communication between the CANA Network Support team and members
    • Develop collateral such as email banners, social media tiles, reports, website material and other digital media to engage our members and promote CANA’s work
    • Be the custodian of the CANA website to engage new and existing members, our donors and supporters
  • Assist in organising major network events, such as the member conference
  • Manage the CANA collaborative webinar program
  • Network administration
    • Manage programs and systems that enable outreach to, and engagement with, members such as the member database
    • Assisting with preparing and processing new member applications, inducting new members into the network, maintaining relationships between NST and member organisations, and processing membership upgrades and cancellations
    • Managing the CANA info@ inbox, monitoring and responding to emails and triaging member enquiries
    • Managing CANA google groups, member slack workspace and member online portal
    • Produce the CANA Annual Report

What we offer

CANA is a flexible workplace with work from home and office options and flexible working hours. CANA will reimburse a monthly amount for expenses and an additional reimbursement if you work from home and don’t have access to an office.

The Network Organiser will work within the collaborative CANA Network Support Team, engaging closely with sector working groups, decision-makers, and the wider Australian community.
