Nevada Program Director

tendersglobal.net

THIS POSITION CAN BE PERFORMED REMOTELY ANYWHERE IN NEVADA.

Our energy system is on the brink of a major transformation, and we’re looking for someone to help us ensure this new system puts rooftop solar energy at the cornerstone!

About Us

Solar United Neighbors (SUN) is a national 501(c)3 nonprofit that started more than 15 years ago with a simple question:  “Mom, can we go solar?”  Since then, we’ve helped tens of thousands of people benefit from solar energy.  We are dedicated to creating a clean, equitable, resilient energy system that benefits everyone — by helping people go solar, join together, and fight for their energy rights.

About the Position

The Nevada program for SUN launches at a critical time. The EPA Solar for All initiative just invested $156 million into the state to support low-income solar programs. At the same time, local politicians are being pressured by the utility companies to make rooftop solar less economically attractive. SUN will work to help people go solar in Nevada, while advocating to protect the rights and investment made by all solar households. We do this by engaging the public, developing citizen advocates and educating elected officials about the many benefits of solar energy.

This position will report directly to the West Region Director.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Leading the SUN state program in Nevada.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key organizational partners and funders.
  • Working collaboratively with a set of internal regional support team members to implement SUN programs.
  • Representing SUN in coalition spaces.
  • Advocating for solar rights by lobbying elected officials and implementing public policy campaigns.
  • Exploring the development of solar co-op (group purchase) and low-income solar programs in Nevada.
  • Speaking to the media on behalf of the organization.
  • Educating the public about all aspects of installing rooftop solar in Nevada, including local incentives, utility rates and regulations.
  • Organizing and attending events (in-person and virtual).
  • Cultivating a donor and volunteer network in the state.

Required Qualifications

  • Resident of Nevada
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with project management, managing teams, and building relationships
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and trouble-shooting skills
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and strategically
  • Ability to work remotely, with frequent in-state travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Inquisitive personality and interest in continuous learning
  • Knowledge of solar, energy, and/or environmental issues affecting Nevada
  • Solar technical knowledge

Benefits

  • Salary range of $65,000 – $75,000 per year
  • Fun, remote work environment
  • Flexible work hours
  • Generous paid leave
  • Health, vision, and dental insurance
  • $1,000/year professional development stipend
  • $50/month phone and internet stipend
  • 401(k) retirement account with match after 1 year
  • Meaningful, impactful work
