The Communication Centre (Commis responsible for Supply Division’s (Scommunication function. Supplies serve a critical role in achieving UNICEF’s mandate for children. The packaging and publication of written and visual content via curated media channels and partnerships gives visibility to UNICEF Supply’s work and increases audience and supporter engagement. SD is also a favorite destination for media, donors, fundraisers and supporters who want to enrich their understanding of UNICEF Supply’s work. With this background, the Communication Centre is hiring a consultant for time bound deliverables relating to 20242025 events and campaigns where CommC will need additional coordination, research, content and writing to maximize impact.
How can you make a difference?
Scope of Work:
Communication consultancy to deliver communication content, media engagement, research and planning support on SD themes around issues, events, campaigns and initiatives, including: Malaria vaccines; cholera vaccines; HPV vaccines; mpox vaccines and supplies; diagnostic tests; RUTF; sudden onset humanitarian and health emergencies; global reports with high SD relevance; flagship days/periods; media interaction training; media monitoring; and key performance indicator monitoring.
Specific deliverables include:
Researching 12 key issues and planning for communication activities:
• Analytical summaries and research briefs based on indepth research and communication assessment on complex and technical matters, and built from significant, focused and detailed understanding of current, past and upcoming issues.
• Strategic and practical communication plans for key issues.
Developing content for 12 web pages or stories:
• Researching and proposing content.
• Formulating and seeking approval for proposed content.
• Conducting interviews.
• Researching data points.
• Creating two drafts.
• Completing two rounds of approvals.
• Identifying suitable messages.
• Researching images/graphics.
• Liaising with technical, communication and other relevant colleagues.
Supporting media relations management, including support to communication for advocacy:
• 12 Media Q and A documents and/or talking points or research and/or first draft for press releases or news notes involving research, approvals and liaison with DGCA + relevant technical stakeholders.
• Support 48 media enquiries involving research, approvals and liaison with DGCA + relevant technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to UNICEF globally produced packages for publication to communicate UNICEF Supply’s contribution to realizing the UNICEF mandate.
• Handson management of media interaction training.
Supporting monitoring and reporting:
• Daily monitoring of media stories relevant to the SD mandate, flagging relevant stories to supervisor.
• Monthly welldocumented monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators, with adhoc reports produced upon request.
As required to fulfil the above commitments the consultant will participate in meetings with and on behalf of the communications team and support on internal communication and knowledge management as needed.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverag. Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicabland health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fullyvaccinated status against SARSCoV2 (Covid19) with a World Health Organization (WHendorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
