In Madagascar, WFP supports the government’s efforts through an assistance strategy aimed at responding to the humanitarian emergency, strengthening the resilience of communities and supporting sustainable development efforts. In collaboration with State institutions, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and partners of the United Nations System, the WFP organizes monetary or in-kind transfers to meet the food needs of families affected by climatic hazards, provides school meals which promote access to education for girls and boys, supports the prevention and treatment of malnutrition, provides technical and financial support to groups of small agricultural producers to improve their production and their access to the market.

WFP also provides air transport service, providing humanitarian and development actors with safe, reliable and economical transport to other regions of Madagascar.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Under the direct supervision of the program manager of the head of office and with the technical supervision of the head of the nutrition section of the country office, the nutrition program manager will be responsible for providing support for the implementation of the strategy. of Nutrition in the office coverage area.

He or She will mainly have to accomplish the following tasks

  • Act as the nutrition focal point and technical advisor to the field office in the field of nutrition and with support and guidance from the country office nutrition team
  • Support the operationalization of the WFP nutrition response strategy in Madagascar in alignment with the policies and general orientations in nutrition defined by the WFP at the global level in its area of ​​responsibility.
  • Contribute to the development of plans, programs, projects, processes and nutrition as part of emergency preparedness and response but also as part of the strategy to strengthen community resilience
  • Contribute to the implementation of the nutrition component in the resilience building strategy
  • Provide technical support for the establishment and capitalization of the pilot project for the establishment of Learning and Nutritional Rehabilitation and Awakening Homes.
  • Support the coordination of nutrition-sensitive value chain development initiatives in collaboration with the resilience team
  • Provide support for the implementation and capitalization of the “school nutrition” component
  • Provide support for the implementation of nutrition programs linked to other interventions implemented by WFP.
  • Support the preparations of emergency response plans to ensure that WFP can deploy the necessary resources and assist populations affected by crises.
  • Support the establishment of data collection systems within the framework of nutritional surveillance and the analysis of data from nutrition programs and ensure that WFP standards for monitoring and evaluation are applied.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports on programs and activities enabling informed decision-making
  • Provide support for the establishment and capitalization of pilot projects for the use of local solutions within the framework of nutrition programs
  • Support the establishment of data collection systems and analysis as part of the malnutrition prevention project with the development of a Dashboard for visualizing and monitoring partner performance.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports on programs and activities enabling informed decision-making
  • Support the process of identifying, developing and managing partnerships.
  • Support capacity building of WFP staff, partners and national government actors to prepare and respond to food and nutrition assistance needs.
  • Liaise with agents from other internal functional units to ensure effective collaboration and timely implementation of the various nutrition programs.
  • Conduct any other related task within the area of ​​their skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED 

  • Education : University degree in human or public nutrition with good operational experience in nutrition in emergency situations.
  • Professional experience : Have at least 3 years of post-graduate experience in the field of planning and implementation of nutrition activities, monitoring and analysis of food and nutritional security, monitoring and evaluation of humanitarian and development projects.
  • Experience in managing programs to treat acute malnutrition, promote infant and young child feeding, and combat micronutrient deficiencies will be an asset.
  • Languages : Very good level in French and acceptable level in English.
