Position description

The Institutional Partnerships Associate Director will play a critical role in accelerating the growth of Health In Harmony to meet the urgency of the climate and nature crises. They will work closely with the Chief Partnerships Officer and the will create and oversee high-value partnerships and projects that advance HIH’s priority goals within its grants making and advocacy. They will work closely with the management team to create plans and ensure Health In Harmony is well represented with foundations, other NGOs, governmental bodies, and corporate and financial institutions. The ideal candidate will have experience with writing and managing large grants ($500,000+) and government grants, a keen eye for detail, knowledge of grant prospecting, interest in helping the organization grow its grants program, and is good at meeting deadlines to take the organization from $ million annually (and 8.5 million rainforest hectares protected today) to $15+ million annually (and hundreds of millions of hectares protected) over the next five years. RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Collaborate with Chief of Partnerships in planning and forecasting processes to develop annual and strategic plans and budgets for institutional donors, and manages team capacity related to grants

  • Develop and oversee Institutional Partnerships Team in grant prospecting process, applications, reporting, and management calendar annually and quarterly, helping guide fundraising strategies, and managing the grant calendar across all channels

  • Manages daily output and quality of all proposals and reports for institutional donors

  • Leads institutional partnership team member training and ongoing professional development initiatives

  • Work with the Chief Partnerships Officer and CEOs to build and maintain relationships with key donors. 

  • Collaborates with program and finance global support and in-country team members to draft narrative and budget proposals

  • Management of grant budgets to ensure accurate and timely spending of grant funds’ measured accounting and ability to work in multiple currencies.

  • Represent HIH at conferences and events both domestically and internationally

  • Collaborate with programs, research, finance, and leadership staff, internationally to manage grants

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years working experience in grant writing and prospecting in a non-profit; working knowledge of current grant writing best practices

  • Experience writing and capturing large government grants

  • Experience in developing grant budgets

  • Proven ability to seek out new ideas and ability to implement new initiatives

  • Ability and experience working with communities in other countries, preferably in emerging economies and low-resource and rural settings

DEMONSTRATED SKILL

  • Technical writing, editing, and training 

  • Logical Framework (Logframe) development

  • Coordinating activities with other internal departments and/or external organizations

  • Preparing complex reports, analyses, and financial statements

  • Analyzing and interpreting complex financial and accounting information

  • Managing complex projects using a project management approach

  • Monitoring compliance with applicable proposals, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations

  • Working with diverse academic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of our local and international staff

  • Ability to work efficiently in an international, remote work environment
