The Nutrition Manager supports the Chief of Health & Nutrition, in the UNICEF Country Office in Ghana, in managing the section, contributing to partnerships, innovation and knowledge management. S/He is responsible for developing, preparing and managing complex, key and integrated nutrition programmes. The Nutrition Manager provides authoritative technical guidance and management support throughout the programming processes to facilitate the administration and achievement of concrete and sustainable nutrition focused results positively affecting maternal, infant, child and adolescent health & nutrition outcomes. This is carried out in accordance with the strategic results of the UNICEF-Government of Ghana country programme of cooperation and UNICEF Strategic Plan, related work plans formulated according to results based-management approaches and methodology (RBM), and expected UNICEF standards of performance, relevant programme policy and procedures, and accountability framework.

  • Management and advisory support to the Chief, Health and Nutrition

  • Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have:
  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in one of the following fields is required: nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global/international health and nutrition, health/nutrition research, policy and/or management, health sciences, or another health-related science field.
  • A minimum of eight [8] years of relevant professional experience in a developing country context in one or more of the following areas is required: food & nutrition security, domestic financing for nutrition, public health, nutrition policy (maternity act, BMS code, regulation of unhealthy foods, trade law, etc.), planning and management, for maternal, infant, child and adolescent health/nutrition care, private sector engagement, community engagement for improved health & nutrition practices and demand for services, intersectoral coordination, performance management systems for delivery of health & nutrition interventions.
  • Experience in health/nutrition programme/project development and management in a UN system agency or organization is an asset
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
