Act for Kids is a prominent provider of prevention, professional therapy and support services for children who have suffered abuse and support for families at risk. With over 33 centres nationally, we have supported thousands of children and their families for more than 30 years. Our Broadmeadows Integrated Therapy Team consists of experienced therapists such as Counsellors and Psychotherapists, Speech and Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Art Therapists. Our office holds 5 state of the art therapy rooms equipped with resources to enable effective delivery of therapies in an engaging approach. We also have a Sensory Garden called ‘Lily’s Garden’, one of the first in Victoria.

About the Position

We are looking to welcome an Occupational Therapist to provide an outstanding holistic therapeutic service to children, young people, and their families in our integrated therapy space in Melbourne.

  • Full time or part time opportunity.
  • Level 6 under the SCHCADS award. Salary range is $106,390 to $111,093 plus super.
  • Free onsite parking, access to onsite café, close to local shops and nearby public transport.
  • Access to work vehicle and opportunity to travel to Qld for PD opportunities.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Provide therapeutic assessments and interventions as part of an integrated team.
  • Use evidence-based approaches and modalities such as Sensory Attachment Integration (SAI), the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), Video Interactive Guidance (VIG), Theraplay, and more, to enhance positive outcomes for families.
  • Identify and work toward client goals and achieve successful case outcomes for clients.
  • Regularly attend and participate in case reviews and other case discussions as required.

About You

  • A tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and relevant registration.
  • Experience working with children, young people and their families who have been impacted by trauma or experienced abuse and neglect, or at least two years’ experience working in similar roles.
  • Experience providing evidence-based individual and group therapy to children, young people, and their families.

Other Requirements

  • Eligibility for a Working with Children Check or professional exemption.
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • Legally able work in Australia (proof of eligibility will be requested).
  • Eligibility for NDIS clearance.
