Job Description

Are you passionate about improving the lives of young children and their families? EACH is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our child-focused, multi-disciplinary team as part of the School Readiness Funding initiative. This initiative aims to provide kindergartens with quality programs and supports to enhance children’s early learning experiences.

This exciting new role will involve working collaboratively with educators and families in kindergarten communities to enhance their capacity to support children’s learning in communication, wellbeing, and access and inclusion.

As an Occupational Therapist in our team, you will be responsible for building the capability of kindergarten educators and families through coaching, modelling, group training, and case consultation support, using evidence-based practices. You will collaborate with kindergartens and Department of Education and Training area staff across Maroondah, Knox, and Yarra Ranges municipalities to deliver high-quality direct support that promotes self-regulation, positive and pro-social behaviours, fine and gross motor skills, and social and emotional wellbeing.

Qualifications

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • A graduate or post-graduate degree in Occupational Therapy and be registered with AHPRA
  • Demonstrated experience in capacity building within a Kindergarten/Early Learning environment
  • An understanding of the National Quality Standard (NQS) for early childhood education and care
  • An understanding of and ability to work in alignment with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF)
  • Experience in group training, coaching and case consultation, specifically providing professional learning activities for a range of audiences

Utilizing your skills in all areas of Occupational Therapy, including fine motor, sensory processing, self-care, play and social skills, our ideal candidate will empower educators and families, building their capacity to prepare young children for the crucial early schooling years.

We would love to hear from people confident building relationships within the education sector, as well as within multidisciplinary teams, who can leverage relationships to impart an understanding of the impact that the priority areas of communication (language development), wellbeing (social and emotional) and access/inclusion have on children’s achievement, overall wellbeing and engagement.
