Office Assistant

The Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (RAP) is responsible for leading FAO’s response to regional priorities for food security, agriculture and rural development through the identification, planning and implementation of FAO’s priority activities in the region. It ensures a multidisciplinary approach to programmes, identifies priority areas of action for the Organization in the region and, in collaboration with Centres/Divisions/Offices at headquarters, develops, promotes and oversees FAO’s strategic response to regional priorities. RAP also advises on the incorporation of regional priorities into the Organization’s Programme of Work and Budget and implements approved programmes and projects in the region, monitors the level of programme implementation and draws attention to problems and deficiencies. RAP develops and maintains relations with region-wide institutions including the Regional Economic Integration Organizations (REIOs). The Regional Office supports regional policy dialogue on food security, agriculture and rural development issues, facilitates the emergence of regional partnerships, and supports capacity development’ and resource mobilization for food security, agriculture and rural development in the region.
The post is located in the Climate Change and Resilience Module, Natural Resources Management Stream of the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (RAP) in Bangkok, Thailand. The Module works to develop innovative approaches and tools and partnerships and support Member Nations to access finance and increase investments in the transformation toward more efficient, inclusive, low carbon and resilient agrifood systems. This includes coordination of FAO RAP work with the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF)
The Office Assistant performs a large variety of routine administrative transactions and office support functions contributing to the smooth and efficient running of the work unit.
Supervision Received/Exercised
The Office Assistant reports to the Senior Resilience Officer /Module Leader and may receive guidance from Technical Officer in the Module/RAP such as the Regional GEF Coordinator and the Emergency and Rehabilitation Officer. He/she acts independently in routine matters. Supervision received is focused on the quality of the work performed and provides for on-the-job learning.
Working Relationships
The Office Assistant usually interacts with a wide variety of colleagues within the work unit and with immediate clients within the Organization, providing routine administrative and office support services.
