Our story

The Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture Inc. (also known as Foundation House) was founded in 1987 to advance the health, wellbeing and human rights of people of refugee background who have experienced torture or other traumatic events. We have worked with over 100,000 people from more than 70 different communities and are recognised as a national leader in the provision of trauma-informed and trauma-focused service delivery.

Your Impact

As an integral member of the team at Sunshine, you will be responsible for the efficient management of reception and administration by ensuring a safe and welcoming environment to all clients visitors and staff who engage with Foundation House. You have the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse array of individuals, both in person and through various communication channels such as phone, online platforms, and email. You will deliver excellent customer service and showcase the capacity to remain composed and communicate proficiently even when faced with challenging situations. You can manage a variety of different tasks at a high standard, alongside the capability to problem solve and take initiative.

This is an ongoing role, and we are offering between 0.8 and 1 EFT.

What you’ll need

To be successful, you will need to positively respond to the following selection criteria:

  • Business/Administrative qualifications will be highly regarded
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational and time management skills
  • Great administration skills with the ability to keep track of multiple tasks
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with MS Office suite of products
  • Data analysis and reporting skills
  • Undertake administrative duties in line with existing processes, with the ability to initiate and develop new processes
  • Knowledge of suppliers and experience in managing contractors
  • Booking on-line and telephone interpreter services
  • Experience in working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse background
  • Understanding of the refugee experience.
