The Office of
Institutional Advancement at Teachers College, Columbia University
is seeking a dynamic front-line fundraiser to help drive revenue
growth through the strategic management of a portfolio consisting
of donors and prospects with wealth capacity ratings of at least
$5K and up to $99K. The Officer, Philanthropic Giving will be
responsible for retaining existing revenue and donors, sustaining a
pipeline of future donors from across all private constituent
types, and offering donors opportunities to give through Teachers
College to make a smarter, healthier and more equitable world. With
a focus on leadership giving donors, the Officer will serve as a
relationship manager throughout the donor lifecycle to qualify,
cultivate, solicit, and steward leadership annual gifts at the four
and 5-figure levels.

Job Summary/Basic Function:

including the College in their estate plans.

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Philanthropic Giving the
Officer, Philanthropic Giving is responsible for retaining existing
revenue and donors, sustaining a pipeline of future donors from
across all private constituent types, and offering donors
opportunities to give through Teachers College to make a smarter,
healthier and more equitable world. A dynamic front-line
fundraiser, the Officer will help drive revenue growth through the
strategic management of a portfolio consisting of donors and
prospects with wealth capacity ratings of at least $5K and up to
$99K. With a focus on leadership giving donors, the Officer will
serve as a relationship manager throughout the donor lifecycle to
qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward leadership annual gifts at
the four and 5-figure levels.

The Officer will be a highly motivated and entrepreneurial
professional who excels at relationship building and devising
prospecting strategies for fundraising. A collaborative and
strategic thinker, the Officer will work closely with the Assistant
Vice President and with leaders across the College to ensure the
College has sustainable resources to realize its mission. The
Officer also will collaborate across the Institutional Advancement
team to secure proposals, donor engagement communications and touch
points, and stewardship reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Work Experience:
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of progressive nonprofit fundraising
    experience with demonstrated expertise in individual giving,
    especially closing four and five -figure gifts.
  • Experience using databases required; technology expertise is
    important.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Education:
    • Advanced degrees and/or related certifications a plus.
  • Work Experience:
  • Experience with Planned Giving a plus.
  • Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
  • Work successfully in a complex, fast-paced organization serving
    multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as an
    overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; proven
    ability to prioritize and deliver on time.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic,
    cross-functional team structure.
  • Ability to manage and work through change in a proactive and
    positive manner.
  • Have a can-do attitude with a flexible disposition to respond
    to fast-paced, shifting priorities.
  • Salary Range:

    70,000-83,000

    Work Modality:

    Hybrid (2+ days per week on campus)
