Description
Auberge Shalom pour femmes (ASPF) is a Jewish community-based center
addressing the needs of all women and children whose lives have been affected by
conjugal violence regardless of their backgrounds or religion. We provide a
continuum of professional services in both a shelter setting and in an external
counseling office.
All services are provided in a safe, confidential and supportive environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To provide frontline services to shelter clients which include telephone
intake, telephone support services and referrals and crisis intervention as
needed - To ensure the shelter runs smoothly during the shift
- To participate in Full Staff meetings every 10-12 weeks
- To work as part of a diverse team using a trauma-informed approach
QUALIFICATION
- AEC or DEC in social services or bachelor degree in Social Work or related
area of study - Bilingual in French and English
- Knowledgeable about conjugal violence and women’s issues
- Experience working with cultural sensitivity
- Flexibility and ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently
- Work experience in related field
- Understanding of the Jewish community and its customs (asset)
- Ability to communicate in a third language (asset)
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Position Type: Occasional
- Start Date: As soon as possible
- Starting Salary: $24.56/ Daytime hours and $19.65 / Night hours
Emergency back-up (day & overnights & weekends) – flat rate of $20 for
reserving a specific emergency backup time slot - Work Schedule: according to the employee’s availability and needs of the
organization – Auberge Shalom guarantees minimum 1 shift per month
