At Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation (WCDI) we are at the forefront of applied scientific research, committed to shaping food systems that contributes to social equity and planetary health. As a One Health Advisor you will play a vital role in mainstreaming One Health principles into food system transformation initiatives.
Your role
As a One health Advisor you will join the Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation team to co-creating contextualized One Health solutions for food systems development projects globally. Our work portfolio contains short-term and longer-term development assignments that focuses on food system- and agri-food sector transformations. Turning knowledge into action working closely with regional and national partners worldwide.
As One Health advisor:

  • You are able to operate in diverse international contexts on One Health initiatives;
  • You understand the interconnectedness of health related challenges, adopting a systemic perspective and co-create with relevant stakeholders contextualized solutions;
  • You are able to approach the one health concept from a broad perspective beyond the human-livestock interface;
  • You can broker collaboration between stakeholders, putting the aspirations of local stakeholders first;
  • You can contribute to policy agendas in local, regional and international arenas, and contribute to a wider system transformation for agriculture, food and nature;
  • You can facilitate workshops and learning trajectories, and develop offline/online learning methodologies and materials on One Health in food system (in its broad meaning);
  • You operate at the interface of science and practice, well embedded in strategic national and international networks, and can increase our visibility in international debates on sustainability and justice.

Versatility is key!
You will be responsible for:

  • Managing projects;
  • Contributing with your expertise as collaborator in international projects;
  • Develop and run courses or capacity building trajectories in international settings;
  • Profile WCDI in the relevant networks in the Netherlands, Europe and beyond and maintain partnerships;
  • Develop new projects and secure funding streams;
  • Develop knowledge products for academic and non-academic audience.

Requirements
We are looking for an enthusiastic team member we the following qualities :

  • MSc degree in a relevant discipline; for example veterinary science, one health studies, development studies with a focus on public health or equivalent;
  • 5 years of relevant international work experience preferably in research and or project management;
  • Proven track record in action research and publishing, both technical reports and (scientific) papers with an extensive network in the relevant fields;
  • Experience in (co-)developing and (co-)delivering professional training, preferably in hybrid settings and with online learning environments;
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills with a strong ability to work and communicate across boundaries/cultures with strong drive to build bridges between science and society
  • Proficiency in French is highly desirable;
  • Willingness to travel outside Europe; you are able to adapt to changing work environments and have a flexible attitude towards the needs and views of partners and clients.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive monthly gross salary max €5.737,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 11). Additionally, a contract for 0,8 FTE can be discussed. You will initially receive a one-year contract, which will be extended to an open-ended contract upon in mutual enthusiasm.
