Mission and objectives
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the United Nations’ lead agency on international development. We support countries and communities as they work to eradicate poverty, implement the Paris Agreement on climate change and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. We advocate for transformative change and connecting countries to the resources they need to help people build better lives.

UNDP’s Rome Centre acts as the principal, integrated global platform for the strategic partnership between UNDP and the Government of Italy, in particular the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security. The Centre delivers YOUTH, CLIMATE, and ENERGY Initiatives.

One of the centre’s initiative, Y4C is a global project co-led by the Government of Italy and UNDP and co-shaped with youth and other strategic partners to brings together existing and new online and offline resources, tools, capacities, partnerships, networks, and movements by and for youth.

It has a strong focus on supporting the implementation of youth-led and youth-inclusive climate solutions, both financially and in-kind, for a more sustained climate impact on the ground

Y4C Call for Solutions

UNDP in partnership with the Italian Government developed a call for solutions, offering young people the possibility to apply for the call for solution and acquire funds up to USD 20,000 with technical supports.

The initiative aims to inspire young people from around the world to focus their ability and creativity to addressing the climate emergency focusing 5 main categories: Food and Agriculture, Urban Sustainability, Climate Education, Natural Assets and Energy.

During the process, the Rome Centre will manage on demand mentoring and training programmes with partners such as UN agencies, research institutes, universities, and private sector with a view to promoting the cooperation among young people and give them the opportunity to develop their ideas supported by leader in different sectors.

In 2024, the Youth4Climate Call for Solutions will return with a fresh round of funding opportunities.

Context

The Youth4Climate has a strong focus on supporting the implementation of youth-led and youth-inclusive climate solutions, both financially and in-kind, for a more sustained climate impact on the ground.

One of the components in achieving this is the Y4C call for solutions. Youth and Youth-led initiatives will have the opportunity to apply for the call with their innovative ideas and awardees will receive both financial and technical support to implement their projects.

Apart from granting awards to the selected candidates, Y4C extends a learning opportunity to enhance awareness on the call, workshops in thematic areas, and personal/team development in collaboration with our partners and Online Volunteers.
