Job description

Beyond Blue’s vision is that all people in Australia achieve their best possible mental health.

  • Industry Leader, purposeful work
  • Be part of influencing and shaping mental health and system reform.
  • Hybrid working environment.

For more than 20 years, people in Australia have placed their trust in Beyond Blue as a reliable source of mental health information, support, and hope.

We are one of Australia’s most well-known, trusted, and visited mental health organisations. We never take this for granted. With it comes a deep responsibility to listen, to understand people’s needs and aspirations, and to ensure they are at the heart of everything we do.

We are a big blue door for many in the community: a safe and reliable place for millions of people to access information, advice and support – whether they’re well and want to stay that way, unsettled or struggling and need support, or in recovery and want to reconnect.

Join our organisation as an Online Communities Moderator for a one-year parental leave position, starting from July 22nd, 2024, to July 22nd, 2025. As an Online Communities Moderator, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and integrity of Beyond Blue’s online spaces. • Review and approve user-generated content, escalating concerns to the clinical team when necessary.
  • Manage forum user interactions and resolve issues related to registration, membership, and post moderation.
  • Maintain the moderation dashboard and apply community guidelines consistently.
  • Respond to inquiries received via social media and email, ensuring timely and empathetic communication.

Provision of Online Support:

  • Respond to social media queries and comments within established protocols.
  • Monitor social media feeds proactively for engagement opportunities.

Communications/Marketing/PR/Content:

  • Provide insights from user-generated content to inform campaign and resource development.
  • Assist in maintaining key messages and FAQs for different scenarios.
  • Contribute to reviews of community guidelines, policies, and social media content.

Volunteer Liaison & Staff Support:

  • Engage with volunteer moderators to provide support and guidance.
  • Assist in organising training sessions and shift handover briefings.

About you

  • Successful completion of tertiary studies in marketing, health communications, psychology, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in social media/community management with a strong community focus.
  • Proficiency in online and social media communications and digital monitoring tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and respond to risk in an online environment.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, especially in crisis situations.

Desirable:

  • Experience in community strategy implementation and engagement.
  • Proficiency in developing messaging and copy for online audiences.

  • Collaboration
  • Respect
  • Enthusiasm
  • Excellence
  • Innovation
  • Integrity
